Sbot N Wo is a voice/electronics duo from Regina, Canada.
Their unique sound is based on the singing and extended vocal techniques of Helen Pridmore, manipulated digitally in real time by WL Altman. Improvised, unadorned, Sbot N Wo's sound is distinct, daring and divergent.
The duo has performed across Canada, including the "Rencontres de musiques spontanees" in Rimouski, QC; the "OK.Quoi?! Festival" in Sackville, NB; IMOO in Ottawa; Laurentian University in Thunder Bay; several venues in Regina including The Artful Dodger and Neutral Ground; and the eVOCative Festival in Saskatoon. Sbot N Wo has been broadcast on Radio-Canada and created the soundtrack to the Vincent Trasov film "Flammable".
Sbot N Wo's installation "DisLocate DisBody" was presented by PAVED Arts Saskatoon in 2008. In 2009 Sbot N Wo toured in Japan, with four performances in Kyoto and Osaka. The duo's new full-length CD, "SONGS", was released in 2015 and launched with a summer tour of the Maritimes, including concerts with Open Arts, Saint John NB; Gallery Connexion, Fredericton NB; LeHum Moncton; Suddenly Listen, Halifax NS; and Thunder & Lightning, Sackville NB.
More touring is in the works. Stay tuned..!
